There are many debtates about led tube and fluorescent tube, I collected much information about those two items, now, let’s enter into our point today.
What is led tube?
“LED fluorescent tube” is a misnomer. LED lights and fluorescent lights are completely different technologies. LEDs are very small bulbs illuminated by movement of electrons in a diode. Fluorescent bulbs use electrodes and a gas combination of argon and mercury to produce light. So the name we say LED fluorescent tube is wrong, we should say led tube.
Pros and Cons of LED and Fluorescent Tubes
◆ Energy efficient: led tube is more energy efficient than the fluorescent tube,the efficacy record for led tube is 100-120LM/W, for fluorescent tube is 40-60LM/W. ◆Lifespan: led tube has much longer lifetime than fluorescent tube,it can last over 50,000hrs,whereas the fluorecent tube only last 5,000hrs. ◆LED tube has no UV, no flickering,with instant start,howerever,fluorescent tube has mercury,and starting with flickering. ◆Maintenace cost:lower maintenace for led tube due to its long lifespan,but fluorescent tube only has 5,000hrs life time,which means you have to replace them as often ,then the maintenance cost is higher.
Finally ,let’s compare cost as below:
●We assumed the lights would be on 12 hours a day and 365 days a year.
●We use an average cost of one led tube is RMB210,the fluorescent tube is RMB17,and per kilowat-hour is 1RMB for electricity fee in China.
●We take 15W led tube compared with the 46W fluorescent tube (it has included the ballast consumption power) under using same quantity 1000pcs.
●Energy cost unit : RMB ●Formula for total cost saved=one year energy cost + tube product cost.
It is easy for us to caculate the total cost for 1000pcs led tube is 209200RMB ,for fluorescent tube is 275700RMB.Obviously, the led tube cost more than the fluorescent tube in the first year. However, in the second year, we found the cost for 1000pcs led tube is 341400RMB,for fluorescent tube is 418400RMB ,we can see, in the second year, the led tube is the bigger winner, when we turn to the third, the fourth…… year,led tube cost benefit is more and more obvious than the fluorescent tube.So, in the following years, led tube is the winner.
